Description from the seller
Beautiful console in veneered burl walnut, Italian mid-19th century. Carlo X in excellent overall condition. This piece is an antique console dating from the 19th century. Its style strongly evokes the Carlo X period (typical of Italian furniture from the first half of the nineteenth century). Materials: The structure is made of veneer in feathered walnut, characterized by the typical flame-like figuring. The top is in dark marble (often Bardiglio or Saint Anne gray marble). Design: It features the classic S-shaped or volute uprights and a contoured base resting on carved lion's paw feet, a detail typical of high cabinetmaking of the era. Function: It was used as a parlor entry piece, often topped with a large coordinating mirror. Shipping is traceable and insured; please note that due to the weight of the marble shipping might be more expensive; in that case I am available for in-person pickup. Attached is an appraisal by a well-known antiques expert registered with the court, Mr. Marco Zaia.
