Description from the seller

A particularly decorative and refined pair of Chinese cloisonné vases in the classic double gourd shape (Hulu). The vases are richly adorned with fine enamel work in vivid colors on a turquoise-blue background.

The panels feature elegant flowering branches with birds, a traditional Chinese motif symbolizing harmony, prosperity and happiness.

The vases are equipped with beautiful gilded bronze dragon-shaped handles and a decorative top rim. They rest on matching carved wooden pedestals, which give the whole an imposing appearance.

Cloisonné is an ancient technique in which thin metal wires are used to create compartments that are then filled with colored enamel and polished. This yields the characteristic rich and glossy surface.

These vases presumably date from the first half of the 20th century and form an impressive decorative pair for a classic or eclectic interior.

Perfect as a statement piece on a console, fireplace mantel, or sideboard.
