Description from the seller
Rare lot of 23 vintage LUI magazines – 60s & 70s (including Jane Fonda, Raquel Welch...) Description:
Attention to collectors of old press and fans of pop-culture icons! I offer a superb lot of 23 original issues of the mythical French glamour magazine "LUI" (The magazine of the modern man).
This lot covers a wonderful period from the mid-60s to the 70s, highlighting the era's biggest stars, models and actresses through iconic covers, exclusive interviews and retro glamour reportage.
Notable issues included in the lot (visible in the photos):
- No. 6 (July 1964): The rare and highly sought-after cover with Jane Fonda ("Jane Fonda's dreams").
- No. 49 (January 1968): Collector issue with psychedelic graphic design ("The Mementos/Memoirs of the Last Emperor of China").
- Special Raquel Welch issue: Iconic cover with the actress in a blue bikini on a jeep, accompanied by a tiger.
But also other thematic and editorial issues from the era: Ingmar Bergman, Brigitte Bardot, the sexual revolution according to Moravia, etc.
Condition:
Vintage/authentic magazines.
The covers are overall very well preserved, with colors still vivid and a superb vintage graphic style (perfect for a collection or for framing as retro decoration).
Some light signs of wear and aging patina normal for magazines over 50 years old, which attests to their authenticity.
