Wood, faience, cord, composite materials and pigments

Abdominal scarifications, eyes inlaid with faience, assembled from composite materials on the back of the statuette, small cavity for the charge under the hind part, beautiful honey-colored patina.
It is said that the function of Bembe art concerns mainly contact with the ancestors and the seeking of their assistance, which generally accords with other accounts attesting to the use of figures to confer luck on hunters and warriors before expeditions of combat or hunting.
