Napoléon III wall clock – mother-of-pearl inlay, comtois movement, circa 1860–1880
Superb French wall clock in Napoléon III style, in very good overall condition.
Features :
• Ebonized wood case with serpentine contour
• Rich intact mother-of-pearl marquetry – floral and star motifs
• Decorative gold-plated brass strips
• Onyx/alabaster dial with enamelled Roman numeral cartouches
• Openwork steel hands in Gothic style
• Original convex glass in good condition
• Original mechanical Comtoise movement (Franche-Comté), 2 barrels
• Timekeeping and striking functions working
• Winding key included
Nacre complete, without flaws. Movement in working order, not recently serviced.
Decorative piece of character, ideal for a Second Empire furniture enthusiast.
