This Philips 22GH925 is the first compact transistor stereo amplifier released by Philips on the market in 1966.
The amplifier is known for its characteristic, warm 1960s sound thanks to the use of germanium transistors.
Key Specifications
Output power: 2 x 3.5 to 4 Watts at 8 Ohms.
Equipped with the famous AD149 germanium transistors in the output stage.
Case: Modern design finished with a wooden (teak) mantle.
Dimensions: 32 x 9 x 21 cm.
Controls: Five knobs for Function, Volume, Bass, Treble and Balance.
Three push-buttons for Stereo, Mono and On/Off.
When connecting modern equipment to this vintage amplifier, be mindful of the 1960s-era standards:
DIN plugs: All audio inputs and speaker outputs use the standard 5-pin and 2-pin DIN connectors that were common in Europe at the time.
Inputs: It has inputs for a tuner, cassette recorder and turntable.
Crystal/Ceramic: The built-in phono input is only suitable for crystal or ceramic cartridges.
(for a turntable with an MM cartridge an external phono preamplifier is required.
