Description from the seller

Saint Evdokia (Eudocia), a saint greatly venerated in the Eastern Orthodox tradition.

The inscription next to the head seems to read 'ΕΥΔΟΚΙΑ' (Evdokía/Eudocia in Greek).
She appears with a dark monastic veil and a golden halo, typical features of the saint.
The right hand is in a blessing or teaching gesture, while the left holds an object that was probably a martyr's cross, now very darkened or lost due to wear.
The style is Greco-orthodox or Balkan, more than Russian, although this type of icons spread throughout the Orthodox world.

From the style of the painting, the color palette, and the dark red background, it could be an icon made between the 18th and 19th centuries.

The saint is known as Saint Eudocia of Heliopolis, an ancient sinner who converted to Christianity, later becoming a nun and martyr. Her feast is celebrated on March 1 in the Orthodox Church.
