Description from the seller

GENERAL:

This Volkswagen T1 Westfalia SO33 Camper is a special example from 1967. There are many different versions of the iconic VW buses built, but only one series of factory-produced Westfalia SO33 Campers was ever made. This exemplar concerns an original SO33, as it left the factory at the time — not a converted panel van or DIY project, but an authentic factory camper with the original color scheme and matching numbers for the body, engine, and chassis.

BODYWORK/PAINT:

The bodywork is in absolute concours condition, both above and below. The bus is square-aligned and the paint shines like new. Everything is finished in the original color scheme, exactly as it was delivered by the factory. The characteristic SO33 Westfalia details have all been preserved, giving this bus a rare original appearance.

TECHNICAL:

Mechanically the bus is in excellent condition. The original air-cooled boxer engine is fully operational and delivers its 42 hp as it should: smooth and reliable. The gearbox shifts like new and the bus drives as a true T1 should. The camper recently appeared at Goodwood. Additionally, the car is equipped with a new tow hitch and is technically fully road-ready for long journeys.

INTERIOR:

The interior is fully original and in exceptionally good condition. The characteristic SO33 Westfalia interior is complete, with a correct finish down to the smallest details. The upholstery looks like new and the camper is equipped with a working built-in refrigerator. For extra comfort and privacy there are tailor-made VW curtains for the cabin.

DOCUMENTS:

The bus retains its original identification features and the accompanying matching numbers for chassis, engine, and body, which confirm the authenticity of this SO33 Westfalia.

COLLECTION:

The Volkswagen T1 Westfalia SO33 Camper can be viewed and collected by appointment in Maasdijk, the Netherlands. The bus is fully road-ready and suitable for immediate use on trips or at events.

OTHER INFORMATION:

This example is in concours condition technically, visually, and structurally and is delivered with a tent awning (not original). This bus is not only a distinctive sight but also a moving piece of Volkswagen history – a real head-turner that you rarely come across.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
