Description from the seller

A seated schist figure of Hariti from the ancient region of Gandhara, Kushan period, circa 100-300 AD, North Pakistan. depicted seated with one hand holding a bunch of grapes and the other hand holding a tall leafy branch or flower stem, possibly a metaphorical reference to Greco-Roman cornucopias, seated on a throne, elegantly clad and heavily bejeweled, dressed in a sleeved tunic with naturalistic drapery and ruched sleeves with beading down each arm, the round face with a softly smiling expression and almond-shaped eyes, the cheeks and forehead each carved with a rosette, her hair arranged into an elaborate chignon with a headdress.

Measuring: 20 cm high (height 25.5 cm mounted on a custom wooden stand).
Weight: under 5 kg (after packing up to 5 kg in the packet category).

Condition: Intact with some losses and a side hair crack on the right side; the very stable surface is covered with soil patina and with minor aging chips. (See images for more details.)

Acquired from a private collector/antique seller (Heer. P) in 2001 in Den Haag. He had acquired that from a Dutch private family collection from Heer M.J. in early 1979. Current property of the seller.

Note: The seller of the lot processes that this item has been received legally. He has made a request to send. He ensures that upcoming payments are arranged. The seller will inform the buyer if it takes more than a few days.
