Description from the seller
A new Vallecchi editorial event takes us on a journey to discover the Light of God, thanks to a volume crafted entirely by hand, following the ancient printing techniques introduced in the mid-15th century by Johannes Gutenberg.
The light is dream, anticipation, surprise, but also emotion and impression. On paper we wanted to trap the effect of luminosity pursued for centuries by the greatest artists of all time through the use of the printer’s press. Thus the light becomes the protagonist, that divine light that pervades the painting, a sacred and arcane light that has a life of its own, animates the characters and delivers them to us as a pure expression of the spirit. A detail, printed in warm silver, announces each work and introduces it softly, suggesting a reason for reflection and meditation. The Light of God is punctuated by over forty highly symbolic images that accompany us on this evocative journey, from the “Dream of Constantine” by Piero della Francesca to “The Madonna of the Baldacchino” by Luca Giordano, passing through numerous masterpieces by Caravaggio and other supreme artists such as Leonardo, Titian, Tintoretto, Raphael, Michelangelo, Guido Reni, Parmigianino, Paolo Veronese, Tiepolo, Correggio, Federico Barocci, Vittore Carpaccio.
A journey through the dream of an unfading art that awakens love, passion, emotion, that speaks of God with the simplicity of human language and speaks of men with the greatness of the Divine Word.
Color artwork made by hand according to the ancient typographic press technique that involves five color passes on a single sheet, with hot silver application.
Paper from the Fedrigoni paper mills of Verona.
Artistic binding in cotton velvet with embroidery in silver thread.
Plexiglass case.
Limited and numbered edition of 99 copies for the Italian market, and 49 copies I-XIL for the foreign market and public institutions. Copy number IX.
