Beautiful stoneware bearded-man jug in a pressed pear-shaped form/model. The body with a medallion containing a crowned shield with a passant lion to the right, flanked by the letters E and B.
Early 17th century.
In the book Baardmankruiken, Steengoed 1200-1950, p. 492, C.043, a jug is depicted with likewise the letters E and B in a medallion. With a different coat of arms.
Good condition with the usual glaze imperfections. Handle re-glued.

Fraaie steengoed baardmankruik in een gedrukte peervormige model. De buik met medaillon waarin een gekroond schild met een lopende leeuw naar rechts, geflankeerd door de letters E en B.

Vroeg 17e eeuw. In het boek Baardmankruiken, Steengoed 1200-1950, p. 492, C.043, staat een kruik afgebeeld met eveneens de letters E en B in een medaillon. Met een ander wapenschild.

Goede staat met gebruikelijke glazuur imperfecties. Greepje opnieuw aangelijmd.
