Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Estimated period: 1940–1950; chrome housing; mechanical aspirator psychrometer from Germany.
Description from the seller
Offered: A beautiful Assmann aspiration-psychrometer in exceptionally fine condition. This high-quality scientific precision instrument was used in the 20th century by meteorological institutes and laboratories for the highly accurate measurement of relative humidity and air temperature.
The instrument is based on the iconic design of the German meteorologist Richard Assmann and exudes pure mechanical quality with its heavily chrome-plated/nickel-plated housing.
Features and condition of the object:
Operation: Equipped with a mechanical clockwork on the top (wind-up with the original key). The gear train runs smoothly and drives the internal fan (aspirator) to generate a constant airflow past the thermometers.
Thermometers: The two original, extremely finely calibrated mercury thermometers are fully intact and in excellent readable condition (no fractures in the glass or mercury column).
Accessories: Supplied including the original, robust brown leather transport case with carrying strap and velvet/velveteen interior. Also including the original metal hook/attachment and the liquid reservoirs at the bottom of the housing.
Serial number: Furnished with the stamped serial number 62475, which attests to an early, authentic instrument-maker quality (attributed to top manufacturers such as R. Fuess Berlin or Wilh. Lambrecht Göttingen).
A splendid and complete object for the collector of antique scientific instruments, maritime objects, or meteorological history. See the photos for a good personal impression of the exceptionally glossy condition.
