Old model, probably dating from the first half of the 20th century
Theodolites were instrumental for map creation, for navigation and in large engineering projects such as tunnel and railway construction
A precision surveying instrument primarily used to measure horizontal angles (azimuths) and vertical angles (zeniths) between different fixed points.
Although the earliest models date back to the 16th century, they were refined in the 1700s by makers such as Jesse Ramsden to achieve the precision necessary for geodetic triangulation
