Description from the seller
Armchair – Walnut – Gorgeous Rich Carvings
Belgium – Louis XVI style – 1850-1900
Pair of monumental antique armchairs in Louis XIV style – approx. 1860
Elegant pair of antique armchairs in Louis XIV style, made of solid walnut wood. The chairs feature richly hand-carved details, turned elements and traditional mortise-and-tenon joints, typical of artisanal furniture from the 19th century.
Subtle variations in the woodcarving indicate authentic hand craftsmanship and give each chair a unique character. The upholstery was renewed in the past and provided with modern foam filling for extra seating comfort. The decorative fabric is in good condition and complements the chairs' classical character.
Originating from a historic building in Stabroek (Belgium). According to local tradition, the building is connected to the former inn "De Groene Swaen", which was already mentioned in the region in the 17th century. This information is provided solely as historical context and not as a guarantee of origin.
The chairs are in good antique condition with normal signs of use and aging appropriate to their age. Natural wear is visible at the bottom of the legs from years of use.
Over the years, the solid walnut wood has developed a beautiful warm patina, which further enhances the authentic character and appearance of the chairs.
Sold as a pair.
A highly decorative ensemble, ideal for a classic interior, library, country-style interior, manor house, or for lovers of antique furniture.
Everything is carefully packed & securely protected for shipping.
Shipping to islands or destinations outside Europe available on request.
