The device features a compact and portable silver-gray matte finish, with a palm-sized body that's easy to carry in a pocket. The front of the device houses a Sony-exclusive flat microphone, providing clear sound pickup and reducing ambient noise. At its core is the VOR voice-activated automatic recording system, which automatically starts recording upon detecting human voices and pauses automatically when silent, significantly saving tape space. It also features a unique 2x recording mode, allowing a standard 90-minute tape to be doubled to 180 minutes of recording time. Furthermore, it's equipped with a stepless playback speed knob, allowing for adjustable playback speed to suit needs such as listening to lectures and reciting notes.
