Description
Rare antique stereoscopic camera “Vérascope” made by Jules Richard in Paris, early 20th century.
The lot includes:
• Vérascope camera format 45x107;
• original old case;
• several film holders / plate holders;
• old fabric pouch.
The camera is fitted with optics:
“Demaria-Lapierre Paris – Rectilinear Extra.”
Camera body number:
35834.
The Vérascope is one of the most emblematic French devices for stereoscopic photography. Designed to produce relief images on glass plates, it was widely used by enlightened amateurs, travelers and collectors during the Belle Époque.
The 45x107 format is the best-known historic format of the Jules Richard range.
The offered lot presents a beautiful uniformity and an authentic patina of the period:
• black metal construction;
• mechanical controls present;
• folding viewfinder;
• original optics;
• coherent accessories.
The camera has not been tested with plates. Mechanical operation is not guaranteed given its age.
