Description from the seller
Published in 2006 by Hangil Art, Vessels for the Heart is one of the most sought-after works by contemporary Korean photographer Koo Bohnchang.
This book is devoted to his famous Vessel series, a photographic exploration of the Joseon dynasty's white porcelains, considered one of the most emblematic projects of his oeuvre.
This copy is of particular interest as it includes a signed autograph inscription by Koo Bohnchang, dated February 5, 2015 and addressed to “Irène.” His signature is in Korean and in English.
Signed copies by the artist are rarely seen on the international market.
To realize this series, the artist traveled tens of thousands of kilometers to photograph ceramics held in the major museums of Korea, Japan, Europe, and the United States.
Through images of great sobriety, he conveys the timeless beauty of these objects and probes Korean cultural memory.
The work is now listed as exhausted in the artist’s official bibliography.
