Description from the seller
Natacha Merritt - Sexual Selection - 2012 - 240 pp. - Hardcover - 19 x 22 x 2.5 cm.
Text: English.
Condition: New in plastic (photos from own copy).
Natacha Merritt (1977) is an American photographer, artist, and biologist. Her first book Digital Diaries (2000) was the first digital photography book ever published. Merritt has been called a 'cheap self-promoter', a 'ground-breaker', and the contemporary counterpart of Anaïs Nin. She cataloged her sexual history on the Internet through explicit photos and drew the attention of photographer Eric Kroll, which led to the release of her photos as Digital Diaries.
In Merritt's book 'Sexual Selection' she compares and contrasts the sexual complexity of plants and insects with her own sexuality. She returned to higher education to study evolutionary biology, and noted: "The step is logical if you have a passion for sex. All roads lead to evolutionary biology, speciation and genetics."
Her 'kinky' nude photography calls to mind that of Richard Kern, Ed Fox, and Terry Richardson. Her close-up/macro photography of plants and insects is akin to Nobuyoshi Araki.
