Description from the seller

Deck of hand-painted playing cards from central Italy in the early 1800s.
Rare, a true one-of-a-kind piece.
Have been evaluated by several experts, all of whom gave roughly the same opinion.
Unique piece, therefore as was done in that period, made on commission (the author cannot be defined because they are unsigned, although almost certainly made by some capable artist. When commissioned, and especially by prominent families, the authors often did not sign them).
The photos speak for themselves and highlight the hand of the author.
Considering the horses, which are visible from the back (you don’t see them this way in decks of this kind), they could evoke Napoleon’s defeat and thus probably post-1815.
The Rivoltinatura technique is present (an Italian method used to protect cards).
The cards present as in the photos, i.e., with no signs of wear and in excellent condition.
I have had them for over 40 years.
