Scientific name Megalodon, specimen Megalodon tooth, geological period Neogene–Miocene (about 23.0–5.3 million years ago), treatment natural, condition natural and authentic.
Description from the seller
Megalodon lower jaw tooth from the Miocene – North Carolina, USA
This very impressive Megalodon lower jaw tooth comes from the United States, where fossils like these are often found directly on the seabed. This gives a beautifully robust appearance and an authentic, “lived-in” look – pure nature. But this tooth has truly perfect serrations, which is certainly unique among USA teeth!
Compared to fossils from other sites, such as Indonesia, USA teeth are known for their solid, strong roots and high degree of originality. Indonesian teeth can sometimes show sharper serrations and smoother enamel due to the type of sediment in which they are found, but they are also more often repaired or even partially reconstructed. In the US, restoration is much less common, so most finds – like this specimen – remain fully authentic.
This tooth is 100% original and unrestored, with a powerful root and fine natural details. A special and honest piece for the serious collector who values authenticity.
