Description from the seller
Elegant center table (or wall table) in solid walnut wood, distinguished by rich hand-carved decoration that recalls the Italian Renaissance taste. The piece stands out for its construction solidity and the elegance of its proportions, making it a striking furniture item.
Key Features:
Top: Rectangular, with a finely worked edge in a delicate tooth-y or beadwork pattern, which gives the upper profile a sense of dynamism.
Supports (Legs): The two side supports shaped like a vase or lyre are masterfully carved with acanthus leaves, volutes, and a central rosette.
Base: The legs rest on sturdy lion’s paw-style bases, symbolizing nobility and strength in period furnishings.
Crosspiece: A contoured and carved crosspiece with a central medallion unites the two supports, ensuring structural stability and aesthetic continuity.
Conditions and Details:
The table is in good overall condition, with a magnificent natural patina that enhances the walnut grain.
Some signs of age and use are visible (small superficial scratches on the top, as shown in the photo).
Technical notes: The structure is solid. There are the classic worm-hole openings (now inactive) typical of antique solid-wood furniture, evidencing authenticity and age. A first restoration intervention has been carried out involving an anti-worer treatment and a double application of oil.
The bottom of the table shows the artisan workmanship of the boards and the original reinforcements.
