Icon - Three saints - Wood - No Reserve

Russian icon depicting Saint Constantine flanked by Saint Helena and Olga. Dateable to the mid-19th century. It is egg tempera on a gypsum ground on a single wooden panel. The halos are in silver gilded with gold. It measures 31.2 x 24 cm. It had a horizontal rear support that has been lost. Very well preserved. It was purchased at Hargesheimer Kunstauktionen in Düsseldorf: the leading world auction house for Icons, held twice a year. The original purchase documentation is available on request.
