Clocks from the Elexacta series, produced by the German company Schatz, were electromechanical devices.
They used battery power to drive the balance or escapement via an electromagnetic impulse.
Built-in timer: On the right side of the case there is a fully mechanical, wind-up kitchen timer (the so-called egg timer) counting down up to 60 minutes.
Design: The case is made of ceramic or porcelain, which was a very popular solution in German kitchen design of the 1950s and 1960s (Mid-Century Modern / Rockabilly style).
