Description from the seller
GENERAL
Every now and then, you come across cars that stand out in every respect. This seemingly ordinary Mercedes-Benz 250 Diesel of the iconic W124 generation was built and delivered in September 1992. The vehicle excels with an exceptionally low and fully verifiable mileage of just 79,534 kilometers. The reliable and legendary atmospheric five-cylinder diesel engine with a displacement of 2497 cc (engine type OM602) delivers 90 hp and is known for its indestructible technology and unparalleled build quality, which made the W124 series the absolute standard in the upper middle class. In this specific copy, the engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The history of this car is unique and completely transparent. The first owner was born in 1928. After this, the car was driven for one year by a gentleman born in 1913, after which the car was purchased on August 30, 1996, by the last owner, a gentleman born in 1927. This last owner bought the Mercedes at the time when the car was four years old with a mileage of approximately 20,000 kilometers, and cherished the car until his recent passing in 2025. Immediately upon purchase in 1996, he fitted the famous sheepskin seat covers on the front seats to optimally protect the original upholstery. These covers were removed for the first time only in May 2026. All historical data and documents are available for inspection by enthusiasts. It is a very beautiful and great-driving Mercedes 250 Diesel.
BODYWORK & PAINT
The bodywork of this 34-year-old classic is in above-average good condition and shows hardly any signs of wear. The car is almost entirely finished in its original factory paint, with the exception of the right front wing. Due to minor parking damage while driving into the garage, this wing was replaced at the time with a brand-new one and neatly sprayed in the original paint color. Both the paint quality and rust prevention can be described as exceptionally good. The body parts critical to the W124 series, such as the wheel arch edges, are also very neat and free from the usual corrosion. The underside of the car is likewise in a clean and well-maintained condition, as can be seen in the photos.
TECHNICAL
Technically speaking, the Mercedes starts excellently, keeping in mind the traditional and characteristic preheating process. The five-cylinder diesel engine runs beautifully, and the car steers and shifts wonderfully smoothly. The vehicle is practically ready for long journeys, and you could easily drive it all the way to Southern Spain. Regarding the electronic components, the central locking, the electric sunroof, and even the automatic electric antenna function excellently. However, there are two technical points of attention: after starting, the ABS warning light stays on, and the tachometer is currently not working. Due to the car standing still over the past year, a minor service is warmly recommended, which is advisable when putting any used vehicle into service. INTERIORThe interior features a particularly beautiful and neat cabin that shows virtually no signs of use. Thanks to the fact that the front seats were protected by the sheepskin covers for thirty years, the original upholstery of the front seats is in an exceptionally clean condition. The rear seat, the sleek door panels, and the carpeting also look neat. As a typical nineties feature, the headliner sags a little bit in a few places. In short, this is a very neat and fully equipped Mercedes.
DOCUMENTS
This Mercedes-Benz was originally delivered new in Germany and is therefore provided with the official, currently deregistered, German registration papers. With these included German car papers, the vehicle can easily be registered elsewhere or abroad. In addition, various original manuals and documents are present with the car. A valuable historical detail is that even the purchase invoice and manuals for the Blaupunkt car radio purchased at the time (type San Francisco, including the original remote control) have been carefully preserved.
COLLECTION
The car is located in Hengevelde, the Netherlands. Naturally, the vehicle can be viewed in person by appointment and picked up by the buyer via a pickup collection.
OTHER INFORMATION
For buyers within the Netherlands, there is the option to have the car delivered to your location for an additional fixed fee of 150 euros, excluding the Wadden Islands. For foreign bidders and interested parties, the seller also offers an attractive logistical service. The seller can have the car delivered relatively cheaply and efficiently throughout the entire European Union by a professional transporter

Request help with registration from a third-party service provider.Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
