Exakta Varex IIa Version 7 (c1961) with a Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 50mm f/2.8 lens on Exakta bayonet, serial no. 953671, in very good condition and tested and working for 35 mm film.
Description from the seller
This Exakta Varex IIa Version 7, named Exakta in white/silvery letters on a black background on a metal plate, is in very beautiful and very good working condition. The camera’s serial number is 953671, which means this was Version 7 and produced in 1961. From the Exakta book: Cameras 1933 - 1978 by Clément Aguila and Michel Rouah, these details make it clear that it is Version 7, because under the name "Igahee Dresden" the Varex IIa can also still be engraved, which is not the case with the other versions.
The camera and lens have been checked for proper operation. All shutter speeds work excellently. The two curtains are still light-tight without perforations. The long exposure times also work very well and are set as follows:
First you wind the winding handle, then on the shutter speed knob at the top of the camera set the time to B or T. Then set a long time on the left upper knob to your liking by turning that knob.
The prism block can be removed by pushing the slide button on the front of the camera (just below the letters A and K) downward while lifting the prism block upward at the same time.
The film back door can be opened by pulling on the serrated wheel at the bottom left and simultaneously opening the film door.
The Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar f2.8/50mm lens (the word "Tessar" is not printed on the lens) but the "T" stands for Tessar lens. This has been tested and is in excellent condition. This lens uses the Exakta bayonet mount.
This is a fantastic lens for photographers who are looking for a lens with character and an artistic appearance, particularly famous for its unique "bokeh." This lens does not offer the technical performance of modern lenses but it does provide vintage charm and excellent build quality.
The offered lens has been subjected to inspection and deemed in good condition. The lens is free of scratches and cleaning marks. Focusing operates without hiccups. The diaphragm adjusts from f/2.8 to f/22 without problems. There is no oil visible on the diaphragm blades. The lens has minimal signs of use (see photos; these are part of the description).
This very beautiful Exakta camera and lens make a nice addition for any collector who is still looking for a piece of history, because this is what Exakta has done in photography… history written.
The package will be shipped with a Track & Trace number and insurance, and with secure packaging.
