Royal No. 5 ‘Flatbed’ typewriter – c. 1912 – Barn find – Original condition
Special and authentic Royal No. 5 Flatbed typewriter from around 1912, offered in its original, unrestored “barn find” condition.
This iconic early Royal belongs to the classic American flatbed machines from the early 20th century and is today regarded as a beloved collector's item among enthusiasts of antique typewriters and industrial design. The machine possesses a beautiful historical appearance with visibly aged patina, original gold decals, glass keys, and open mechanics. It is precisely the untouched condition that gives this specimen its exceptionally decorative character.
Fitted with serial number 161221-5, dating to around 1912.
Condition:
Original barn find with clear signs of use and age appropriate for an object over 110 years old. Wear, oxidation and aging present. Keyboard largely complete and the mechanism largely intact. Sold in the current, untouched state.
