Description from the seller
BELGIUM. 20 Francs. 1953. Baudouin I (1951-1993)
- Value: 20 Francs.
- Reign: Baudouin I (1951-1993).
- Year: 1953.
- Inscriptions: Obverse: BAUDOUIN ROI DES BELGES. Reverse: 20 FR · BELGIQUE, with the Belgian heraldic lion and the national shield.
- Grading: MS63 (NGC).
Silver 20 Francs coin minted in Belgium during the early years of Baudouin I's reign. The obverse features the portrait of the young monarch looking to the right, rendered in a modern and sober style that reflects the country’s institutional renewal after World War II. The reverse shows the Belgian rampant lion beside the national shield and the denomination, composing a heraldic design that is balanced and visually striking. The specimen retains an attractive original luster with bright surfaces and well-defined relief, especially in the king’s facial features and in the elements of the shield. Light scattered contact marks typical of its MS63 grade are visible, not detracting from its excellent overall presence. This issue belongs to a period of economic recovery and political consolidation in Belgium, and is one of the most representative silver coins of Baudouin I’s reign.
Disclaimer: For orders shipped outside the European Union, I want to be absolutely clear that I do ship from Spain, which means that if the package is sent to any country outside the European Union, and/or inside the EU that has a special tax agreement (example: Canary Islands), it might be stopped in your local customs and you might be asked to pay taxes. This is a customs legal procedure and it is completely out of our control. Thanks for your understanding.
