BELGIUM. 50 Francs. 1954. Baudouin I (1951-1993)
- Value: 50 Francs.
- Reign: Baudouin I (1951-1993).
- Year: 1954.
- Inscriptions: Obverse: 1954, with Mercury bust facing right and signature RAU. Reverse: BELGIUM · 50 F, with the Belgian heraldic lion and national shield.
- Grade: MS64 (NGC).
50 Francs silver coin minted in Belgium in a version with Dutch (Flemish) legends during the early years of Baudouin I's reign. The obverse features a prominent Mercury head looking to the right, inspired by classical models of antiquity and executed with a modern and vigorous style, a traditional symbol of commerce and prosperity. The reverse shows the Belgian rampant lion beside the national shield and the denomination 50 F, forming a heraldic composition of great visual strength. The specimen retains abundant original mint luster, with sharp reliefs and attractive fields showing only light contact marks compatible with its grade MS64. This issue belongs to an emblematic postwar Belgian series, reflecting the country's economic reconstruction and institutional strengthening during the 1950s.
