Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Large Rimini Blu ceramic ashtray designed by Aldo Londi for Bitossi, Italy, from the 1950s, a single 20 cm wide by 20 cm deep by 4 cm high piece in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Splendid and rare large ashtray from the Rimini Blu series, designed by Aldo Londi in 1959 and still produced today.
Born in 1911 in Montelupo Fiorentino, Aldo Londi led a life devoted to art: he was a painter and sculptor, but above all a ceramist. For more than fifty years he collaborated with Bitossi, first as artistic director and then as a collaborator.
Ceramic expertise and artistic sensibility were his prerogatives. Paired with a penchant for experimentation, they allowed him to undertake bold explorations and define a new expressive lexicon.
The iconic Rimini Blu series, produced uninterruptedly since 1959, is distinguished by the texture of the surface. The decoration, composed of marks that create a fantastic whirl of abstract-geometric elements fixed under the blue, recalls the play of light on the surface of the sea.
Dimensions 20x4 cm
Perfect condition.
