Description from the seller
Pair of Individual Table Pickle Forks in Sterling Silver - Neoclassical Style with Seahorse handles and shells - 19th-20th Century
Lot Description
Exquisite and highly original pair of individual table pickles crafted in solid sterling silver. These singular pieces of metalwork, inspired by the decorative repertoire of the neoclassical style, stand out for their meticulous detail and the beauty of their free-standing zoomorphic handles: one pickle fork features two faithfully chiseled seahorses, while the other bears two sea snails with elaborate detail in their spirals.
A lot of high distinction and rarity, ideal both for adorning select tables with elegance and for joining a collection of European decorative silverware from the period.
Technical Details and Features:
Material: Solid sterling silver. Both pieces show their corresponding official hallmarks and old stamps engraved on the outer bottom of the base (clearly legible in the detail images).
Total Weight: 53.18 grams (combined weight verified with a precision digital scale).
Dimensions: Approximate height of 6.5 cm and a maximum width of 6 cm from handle to handle. Please check the images with the millimeter ruler for an exact size assessment.
Condition: Excellent vintage/antique condition. They retain a natural, very beautiful silver patina that enhances the relief of the sculpted figures. Solid construction with no dents, breaks, or later restorations.
