Steiff - Toy Concept Steiff - 1950-1960 - Germany

Well-preserved example of ‘Clownie’. The clown wears a name tag. This type of name tag was used only in 1952/1953, so we can estimate the clown's age that way.
The body is made of felt and the head of rubber.
For its age it is in good condition; only the little nose is a bit flattened. The rubber from that era has hardened and shows a few small cracks.
The head is still sturdy and can last many more years.

The clown is nicely colored and the fabric of the clothing is also still in excellent condition. With very special glass eyes.

Clownie is 43 cm tall.
