Description from the seller
English mahogany dumb waiter / wine table with leather inlay. ca. 1890-1920
Elegant English two-tier dumb waiter or wine table made of mahogany, dating from the late Victorian to Edwardian period (circa 1890-1920).
The piece features two beautifully shaped leaves with original brown leather inlay, richly adorned with gilded decorative motifs. The leaves are carried by a finely turned central column that rests on an elegant trefoil-foot base.
Such tables were originally used as a dumb waiter, drinks table or serving table for wine, liqueurs, tea, desserts and other refined delicacies during dinners and receptions. Today it forms a particularly decorative piece of furniture that fits perfectly in a classic, country, or English interior.
Condition
Good antique condition with normal signs of use and age appropriate to its period. Beautiful warm patina of the mahogany. The leather shows light wear and signs of use contributing to the authentic character of the furniture. Light professional restoration to the lower foot.
