Description from the seller
TURKEY. 1,500 Lira. 1981.
- Value: 1,500 Lira.
- Year: 1981.
- Inscriptions: Obverse: 16 Ekim · Dünya Besin Günü. Reverse: 1500 LIRA · 1981.
- Grading: MS67 (GBCA).
Commemorative 1,500 Lira coin issued by Turkey in 1981 under the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) program, dedicated to the celebration of World Food Day. The obverse features a stylized gazelle or antelope holding an olive branch, accompanied by the inscription “16 Ekim Dünya Besin Günü” (16 October, World Food Day) and the FAO emblem. The design stands out for its modern and symbolic character, with fluid lines and a balanced composition that emphasizes the relationship between nature, agriculture, and food. The reverse shows the face value of 1,500 Lira surrounded by ears of wheat and olive branches, traditional elements associated with abundance and agricultural production. The specimen remains in an extraordinary state of preservation consistent with the MS67 grade, presenting fully defined reliefs, intense original satin luster, and clean fields with minimal visible marks. This issue is highly representative of the FAO-promoted international thematic coins from the latter decades of the 20th century.
