Rare and fascinating portable compact cassette recorder from Philips, probably model EL 3302, produced in the first half of the 1960s — one of the very first portable compact cassette recorders ever made, at a time when Philips had just introduced the Compact Cassette format (1963), quickly becoming the world reference for this technology.

Design and construction:
The device presents itself in the characteristic vertical/portrait format of the era, with a rigid black plastic housing, a bronze/brushed copper-like top panel with the main controls: STOP slider, forward/advance button and the distinctive red record button. The cassette compartment is protected by a transparent cover. At the bottom is the large metal speaker grille with the classic grid pattern and the Philips logo with a round shield, typical of the early 1960s.
The original black case with strap — an accessory that complements the lot and greatly increases its collectible value.

Historical context:
This unit belongs to the very first generation of portable cassette recorders in history. Philips was the inventor of the Compact Cassette format, and these initial models — produced in Austria and distributed across Europe — are today highly sought-after collectibles for vintage audio and 1960s industrial design enthusiasts.

Conditions:
aesthetically in line with its age — patina and signs of wear visible, consistent with an object over 60 years old. Sold as a collectible item. The original case is present.
