Description from the seller
GERMANY. Berlin. 5 Mark. 1901. Wilhelm II (1888-1918)
- Value: 5 Mark.
- Reign: Wilhelm II (1888-1918).
- Year: 1901.
- Inscriptions: Obverse: FRIEDRICH · 1701 · WILHELM II · 1901. Reverse: DEUTSCHES REICH · 1901 · FÜNF MARK.
- Grade: Excellent condition.
Silver 5 Mark coin issued to commemorate the bicentennial of the proclamation of the Kingdom of Prussia (1701-1901), minted at the Berlin mint, identified by the letter "A". The obverse features the superimposed busts of Frederick I and Wilhelm II oriented to the left, a composition of great symbolic power linking the founder of the kingdom with the reigning monarch. The portrait of Wilhelm II appears with a Prussian-style helmet, while Frederick I wears a Baroque wig, creating a marked artistic contrast between both eras. The reverse shows the crowned German imperial eagle, with central shield and rich heraldic ornamentation, executed with extraordinary detail and depth of relief. The piece preserves abundant original luster in the fields, especially visible around the portraits and in the open areas of the reverse, with slight surface marks and small contact lines typical of a coin that has experienced minimal circulation. This is one of the most emblematic commemorative issues of the German Empire, minted to celebrate two centuries of history of the Prussian monarchy and the dynastic continuity represented by Wilhelm II.
Disclaimer: For orders shipped outside the European Union, I want to leave absolutely clear that I do ship from Spain, which means that if the package is sent to any country outside the European Union, and/or inside EU that has special tax agreement (example: Canary Islands), it might be stopped in your local customs and they might ask you to pay taxes. This is a customs legal procedure and it is completely out of our control. Thanks for your understanding.
