A key is included; the lock works. High-quality hardwood with fine decorative brass fittings and an elaborately engraved security lock, preserved in its original condition with key.

Marbled paper: This type of paper lining was extremely popular in the Baroque and Neoclassical periods. It protected valuable documents, certificates, or textiles from direct contact with the wood and potential resin seepage.

Large storage space: Since the interior is completely unpartitioned, the box was intended to securely store larger items, loose piles of paper, money bags, or valuable fabrics.

Security strap: On the left side a metal lid strap (hinge support) is visible, stabilizing the heavy wooden lid when open.
