Starter 1:43 resin model kit of the De Tomaso Pantera Group 4 Ovovo #457, partly prepared with a red-painted body and mounted windows, including the original Starter box, decals and a Revell paint pot.
Description from the seller
A rare, vintage 1:43 resin model kit from the French quality manufacturer Starter (reference: DET002). This particular model is a representation of the legendary De Tomaso Pantera Group 4, wrapped in the iconic red "Ovovo" livery with race number #457.
The car represented by this kit is not just a race car, but one of the most historically important De Tomasos of all time (chassis #02873). It is the official factory Pantera that was deployed in collaboration with the famous Jolly Club team.
This specific car has raced in:
- The European GT Championship (1973): where the car competed on legendary circuits such as Imola, Nivelles, Hockenheim, and Monza.
- The Tour of Italy / Giro d'Italia Automobilistico (October 1973): This is where the car earned its absolute star status. Driven by factory driver Mario Casoni and co-piloted by Raffaele Minganti, this Pantera took 1st place overall (overall winner) during this grueling, prestigious Italian stage race.
Kit status: The kit is partly prepared. The resin body has already been painted in the correct red color and the windows are installed. The remaining parts (including the characteristic racing wheels/tires and the unassembled interior/chassis parts) are loose in the box.
Decals (Stickers): The original decal sheet with the "Ovovo" sponsorship, the Italian tricolor for the nose, and race number 457 are present (given the age of this vintage kit, the decals are sold as-is).
Packaging & Documentation: Including the original, distinctive red-and-white check Starter box and the original manual with reference photos of the actual race car.
Extras: Including a historic jar of Revell paint in the box. (It is unknown whether it has dried out.)
