Description from the seller

Impressive carved, chiselled, stuccoed wood frame, gilded in fine gold, dating to the early 1900s. Spectacular in appearance and form, its greatest merit is the modanated multi- tier profile, richly carved with engravings and the reticulate (honeycomb) band.

The front features rich relief decorations meticulously handmade by master artisans of the era, with phytomorphic motifs and volutes at the corners and in the central areas, interspersed with ornamental chased elements. These decorations give the sensation of seeing a splendid interweaving of floral and foliate volutes that swirl around the corners of the frame and the central cascading zones.

The central band decorated with a reticular or lozenge pattern (also defined as "honeycomb").

The inner band is finished with red velvet (textile passe-partout), which creates an elegant color contrast with the gilding and enhances the brightness of the painting.

Refined outer stepped area, characterized by a braided incision all around the frame.

The gilding shows a warm, even patina with slight signs of time and minimal wear at the most protruding points.

A frame of considerable impact, a masterpiece capable of enriching and contextualizing important works, contributing significantly to their aesthetic presentation. Ideal for museums, galleries and apartments.
