Description from the seller

BULGARIA. 5 Leva. 1974.

- Value: 5 Leva.
- Year: 1974.
- Grading: PF67 (GBCA).

5 Leva commemorative coin minted in 1974 by the People's Republic of Bulgaria in honor of Aleksandar Stamboliyski, a prominent Bulgarian politician and statesman who served as prime minister from 1919 to 1923. The obverse features a left-profile portrait of Stamboliyski, rendered with great depth and detail in a realistic style characteristic of the 20th-century socialist medallic art, accompanied by his name and the dates of birth and death. The reverse shows the state emblem of the People's Republic of Bulgaria, consisting of the heraldic lion within a crown of ears of grain topped by a star, together with the denomination of 5 Leva and the issue date. The surfaces exhibit an exceptional proof finish, with mirrored fields of intense contrast against the satinized reliefs, preserving outstanding visual quality. The absence of notable marks and the extraordinary sharpness of all details fully justify the high PF67 grade. This issue constitutes a standout testament of Bulgarian commemorative numismatics from the socialist era and reflects the official recognition awarded to one of the most influential political figures in Bulgaria’s modern history.
