Commemorative 5 Leva coin minted in 1979 by the People's Republic of Bulgaria to celebrate the centenary of Bulgarian national postal and telecommunications services. The obverse features a stylized telecom tower surrounded by concentric waves symbolizing the transmission of information and the development of modern communications, accompanied by the commemorative inscription and the dates 1879-1979. The design reflects the technological progress achieved by the country during the century since the creation of the national postal and telecommunications services. The reverse shows the state coat of arms of the People's Republic of Bulgaria, with the traditional heraldic lion framed by ears of grain and crowned by a star, together with the denomination of 5 Leva and the issue date. The surfaces exhibit a magnificent proof finish, with deeply mirrored fields contrasting with satin reliefs, providing a high-quality visual presentation. The condition is exceptional, with perfectly defined details and minimal visible imperfections, fully in keeping with the elevated PF68 grade. This issue constitutes a standout example of late-20th-century Bulgarian commemorative numismatics and documents the importance given to the development of communication infrastructure within the modernization of the Bulgarian state.
