Antique Chinese porcelain plate from the Guangxu period (1875 - 1908). The glazed plate is hand-painted and decorated with 2 iron-red four-clawed dragons, depicted in the clouds and hunting a flaming pearl, a motif often found in this type of ceramics. The reverse bears in the center a red yin-yang symbol and cloud motifs at the edges. The symbol in Chinese philosophy represents the ultimate balance and harmony between two opposite, yet complementary forces in the universe. The rim of the plate is decorated with gold leaf. The sand from the firing process is visible on the stand ring. The plate is in a very good original old, used condition. Please also see the various photos that are part of the description.
