Description from the seller
Kangxi Period (Late 17th/Early 18th Century) Chinese Imari Octagonal Teapot with Original Cover
A fine porcelain teapot from the Kangxi era, standing approximately 11 cm in height. The piece features an elegant octagonal (faceted) body paired with its original domed, matching cover, a classic form for export wares of the period.
The decoration is executed in the sought-after Chinese Imari palette: underglaze cobalt blue outlines and foliage are accented with vivid overglaze iron-red enamel and delicate gilding, depicting stylized floral motifs across each panel. The rich, saturated blue tones are characteristic of high-quality Kangxi porcelain, complemented by bright red and gilded details that create a striking visual contrast.
Crafted from a fine, white porcelain body typical of Kangxi production, the teapot exhibits smooth glaze and well-defined painting.
Condition Notes: Minor, stable chips are present on the mouth rim (neck of the body) and the tip of the spout, consistent with age and use. No major damage or restoration is observed, and the original cover remains intact and fully matching to the body.
