Description from the seller
Color print derived from an original drawing by Benito Jacovitti, created and watercolored in 1977 for the famous series "Kamasultra", a satirical collection among the most original and sought-after works of the artist's mature production.
The work depicts a surreal scene set in an improbable fantastic garden populated by grotesque characters, anthropomorphic vegetation, and continual visual double meanings. A lady of aristocratic appearance waters the garden with a deliberately suggestive watering can, while around her the typical Jacovittian universe unfolds, consisting of improbable vegetables, extravagant creatures, humorous details, and ironic references scattered in every corner of the composition.
The narrative richness of the image and the unmistakable Jacovitti style make this plate a perfect example of his satirical and surreal vein.
The print belongs to the collection published by Club Anni Trenta – Genova. The subjects of the Kamasultra series were created in 1977 and subsequently reproduced in a limited edition destined for collectors.
At the bottom the original captions are present:
"Disegni di Jacovitti (1977)"
"Club Anni Trenta - Genova"
