Description from the seller
My pieces are designed to be companions rather than possessions.
I give my objects organic and animated characteristics, hoping they will become attached to them like pets.
Vincent Decat is an artist-designer based in Paris, a graduate of the Design Academy Eindhoven, who explores the boundaries between design and sculpture. He envisages the durability of an object not only through its materials but foremost through the emotional bond it evokes. By making his objects almost alive, they become companions that must be cared for, kept and cherished.
Aorta is a chair that awakens the senses.
The veins that traverse and envelop it invite touch and interaction. This network of vessels, which runs through the whole structure and emerges from it, makes the piece alive and brings contact with the object.
It is composed of a metal frame covered with clay and plaster.
The piece is functional and equipped with a high seat.
It intentionally features cracks, bearing witness to its artisanal crafting.
