Description from the seller

Rare Lithographed Tin Box - Coronation of King George V (1911) - Rowntree & Co.

Historical and Artistic Description
Fascinating and rare rectangular tin box, produced in the early 1900s by the renowned confectionery company Rowntree & Co. (York, England). This piece was not a simple chocolate container, but a genuine mass communication instrument of the Edwardian era: items like this were made to celebrate and spread among the people the great events of the Crown, serving as a durable “illustrated newspaper.”

The lid features refined lithographed portraits within gilded medallions:

On the left: His Majesty King George V in full dress uniform.
On the right: Her Majesty Queen Mary.
In the center: The British Royal Coat of Arms with the lion and the unicorn, topped by the imperial crown.
