Description from the seller

Leica Ultravid 8×50 PROTOTYPE exemplar in excellent condition, with light signs of use on the body. The lenses are in perfect condition. This binocular is supplied with the original Leica case, strap and lens caps.

This concerns a very special prototype specimen of the Leica Ultravid 8×50, a model known for its exceptional optical quality, high light transmission and robust construction. The Ultravid series is among the top of Leica’s binoculars and is renowned for its sharp, high-contrast image and excellent performance in low light.

What makes this exemplar unique is that it is a prototype model. For such specimens Leica removes the serial number before the product leaves the factory. This is done by removing or polishing away the number to prevent a test or development model from being registered as an official serial model in Leica’s administration. The absence of a serial number is therefore a well-known feature of Leica prototypes and demonstration samples (see last photo).

For collectors and Leica enthusiasts, this is a rare piece, because prototypes exist in very small numbers and rarely appear on the market.

Specifications:
Magnification: 8×
Objective diameter: 50 mm
Type: Leica Ultravid prototype
Very high light transmission, ideal for twilight and nature observation
Robust and ergonomic Leica build quality

A special and rare Leica prototype that is both optically and historically interesting for collectors and enthusiasts of high-end optics.
