Antique Art Nouveau wooden wall cabinet from Belgium, dating to circa 1900–1910, featuring intricate fretwork and brass hinges, in fair condition.
Description from the seller
Uncleaned with genuine patina Antique Art Nouveau / Jugendstil Miniature Fretwork Wall Cabinet – Wood Lace – c. 1900
An exquisite turn-of-the-century miniature hanging wall or table cabinet (circa 1900–1910) celebrating the height of the Art Nouveau and Secessionist movements.
This piece is a masterclass in antique fretwork (scroll-saw) craftsmanship, displaying incredibly intricate, organic flowing lines across the double front doors, side multi-tier display shelves, and the upper gallery crest. Constructed from dark-stained hardwood and fitted with its original brass butterfly hinges, it makes an exceptional curio display or collector’s cabinet.
Condition Note: A beautiful restoration opportunity. True to its age and the fragility of "wood lace," the cabinet shows structural breaks in 2 places (most notably a split across the delicate top gallery crest rail and a minor split on the side frame framework). It remains stable for display and can be easily glued/restored by an enthusiast.
Period: Circa 1900-1910
Material: Hardwood & Brass
Condition: Antique with wear; includes two fine structural wood breaks (clearly documented in detail photos). Sold as-is with a magnificent natural patina.
Dimensions: 49 cm x 57 cm x 18 cm
