Art Nouveau glazed earthenware vase from Torhout, Belgium, attributed to Leo Maes-Vereenooghe, with a pierced collar and whiplash handles, circa 1900, measures 27 × 30 × 27 cm, in blue, green, brown and multicolour glaze, in very good antique condition with age-related wear.

Art Nouveau Flemish Art Pottery Vase Attributed to Leo Maes – Pierced Neck & Whiplash Handles – c. 1900
Description:
A striking and beautifully expressive example of European Art Nouveau art pottery, dating to around 1900. This earthenware vase is a superb showcase of the historic Flemish (Vlaams Aardewerk) potting tradition centered in Torhout, Belgium.
Attributed directly to the renowned workshop of Leo Maes-Vereenooghe, the vase features a wonderful reticulated (pierced) collar with hand-cut geometric triangle and circle openwork. The bulbous lower body is hugged by twin sweeping whiplash handles that mimic natural vines. It is coated in a vibrant, high-gloss lead glaze with running trails of rich cobalt blue, deep emerald green, and caramel ochre.
A highly tactile, authentic slice of Belgian Belle Époque ceramic history.
