Description from the seller
-- "Special & semi-antique Tibet, impressive rug in beautiful condition"
-- Professionally cleaned*
-- about 160,000 knots per m²
-- With Certificate
*Before entering our warehouse, cleaned at a dry cleaner specialized in hand-knotted rugs, then not used again.
This is a hand-knotted Oriental rug, made from durable, natural materials. The way it is knotted and the diversity in patterns make this rug unique and emphasize the authentic, artisanal character.
This concerns an excellent wear rug with an extremely long lifespan.
This is a lightly used, cleaned rug that can be laid down as is. This beautiful Tibet is hand-knotted circa 1960 with the finest, bleached-free wool from sheep from the high Tibetan region. This wool is naturally extra oily due to the cold temperatures (acts as insulation for sheep). When this wool is used in rugs it not only provides a stunning, extra sheen but also serves as a natural protective layer. Wool of better quality is (almost) not to be found. Natural variation in color is visible, due to the wool not being bleached prior to the first dye bath. This gives the rug an authentic aura and contributes to the character of this rug that is full of stories.
Main color: Coral/Red
Accent colors: Cream and black
Notable features: Rich abrash (natural color differences); Much sheen; Beautiful clean and fresh; Full, thick and absorbent rug; Stunning luster; Depending on viewing angle this rug has a lighter and a darker side; Impressive rug; Special object; Characterful; Semi-antique.
Usage marks: Minimal edge damage, despite still an impressive rug in good condition (photo 15).
