Yost No. 4 typewriter from the United States, dating to 1850–1900, in black industrial metal with cast iron and steel, featuring glass and rubber components, dimensions 32 cm wide, 35 cm deep and 26 cm high, weighing 9 kg, not in working order but bearing verification marks, sold as a collectible requiring inspection or restoration and showing signs of heavy use.
Description from the seller
The presented Yost No. 4 typewriter was produced in the United States at the end of the 19th or early 20th century. It is a classic model from the early period of development of mechanical typewriters.
The offered specimen comes from a family collection of antiques belonging to my grandfather. The machine has retained its original character as well as natural signs of use and patina resulting from age. It has not been refurbished or cleaned with penetrating agents (e.g., WD-40), which means its condition corresponds to long-term storage.
Technical condition:
• the machine has not been tested while typing,
• the carriage can be moved manually,
• after pressing the keys, the letter levers remain in the upper position and do not return automatically,
• part of the keys is blocked, probably due to years of storage,
• the item is sold as a collectible requiring inspection, maintenance, or restoration.
The condition is consistent with the attached photographs.
Dimensions:
• width: 32 cm
• depth: 35 cm
• height: 26 cm
Weight:
• 9 kg
The item will be carefully packed with special care appropriate for antique and delicate items.
